IRIS VAN HERPEN. Awe-inspiring!

Exaggerated and impractical yet artistically striking is the spring/summer collection of Dutch designer, Iris van Herpen. She uses materials including leather, iron, brass, and hair in her construction of van Herpen's radiation inspiration. What little experience the designer has had in the international fashion scene, having only graduated from ARTEZ School of Arts in 2006, she has more than made up for with the avant-garde extensions found within the construction of her collection. With feminine chemises that feature large brass wings, ruffled puff shoulders, and sculpted bodices, van Herpen's sophisticated and statuesque pieces have already garnered enviable press and will serve as an exhibition at Harrods this November.
